Recently I was shopping for pearl necklace for my niece who is turning 16 this year. Since I didn’t had much experience with jewelry specially other then gold and diamond I looked for help from my office staff. The information I got from my friends was overwhelming. 1. Old Saying: What is the thickness of Pearl? The more layers of Nacre in pearl are the m ore it si going to last long. This also determines the price.

2. Pearl Color: The pearls come in variety of colors such as white, gray, blue and gold. The darker colored pearls are more costly then lighter ones.

3. Shape of the pearl: Pearls come in variety of shapes such as button, round, baroque and semi round. He round one is the prized one and carries costly tag.

4. Pearl Luster: The more pearl has luster the more it will be costly. The secret behind its luster is simple answer. The more it stays inside of Mollusk the more it carries luster and glow.

5. Pearl Size: The larger pearls are costlier then smaller one.
